Summary This position will be responsible for efficiently and accurately performing blood collection and non-blood collection from donors.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year Phlebotomy experience OR Phlebotomy/Medical Assistant education program, required.
  • Proficiency in a variety of computer software programs including MS Office
  • Ability to work in a team laboratory environment.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified in Phlebotomy from a National Organization, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and IRB Protocols.
  • Complete all process and procedure training as required.
  • Create a welcoming environment for donors to increase donor retention.
  • Participate in donor recruitment and retention activities.
  • Perform pre-donation donor screening qualification process according to SOPs.
  • Maintain confidentiality with respect to personnel, donors, and site records utilized during all duties.
  • Preparing donors for donation procedures
  • Review donor record files for accuracy and completeness and ensure documentation is performed according to SOPs.
  • Collect blood products or specimens through configuration of the collection device, performing phlebotomy, monitoring, and disconnecting the donor upon completion according to SOP.
  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly, annual, and periodic calibrations activities.
  • Assist in performing donor center facility and equipment cleaning and maintenance daily, weekly, monthly, and/or annual.
  • Process, label and review units and samples in preparation for shipping according to specifications.
  • Perform product and sample shipment activities, as necessary.
  • Monitor collection supply levels and enter purchase requests, as necessary.
  • Continually improve communication process between different areas to reduce errors and increase efficiencies.
  • Member of the on-call team to respond to temperature events.
