When you join the growing BILH team, you're not just taking a job, you're making a difference in people's lives.Job Description:Essential Responsibilities: Supervises operations in Lab Control and partners with Lab Support Leads to ensure adequate staffing and efficient, effective workflow for all sites (e.g., East Campus, West Campus and SCC), including meeting turnaround time expectations. Manages, directs and adjusts workflow as needed.Serves as liaison between Lab Control and other departments.Provides supervisory support to mentor, coach and guide as needed. Schedules vacation and processes payroll. Provides input for payroll and employee performance appraisalsTrains new employees and ensures ongoing competency for all employees. Participates in performance counseling for employees.Leads by example and serves as a technical resource for any questions that arise in their areas of responsibilityShares weekend 'manager on duty' rotation with other Lab Control leadersProvides timely and effective communication to staff. Communicates any concerns to Manager and makes suggestions for resolutionUnderstands budget goals for department and shares responsibility for meeting those goalsDrives quality improvement initiatives, continuously looking for ways to improve performance and service. Participates in major projects including space planning, workflow redesign and department implementation of Laboratory Information System(s) in the area of expertise.Maintains compliance with accrediting and regulatory agencies including quality improvement training, safety compliance and competency in area of expertiseHas the authority to direct and support employees daily work activities. Has the direct responsibility to undertake the following employment actions: hiring, termination, corrective action and performance reviews.
