About The Position

Join our team as a night shift, full-time, Phlebotomy Supervisor in Tulsa, OK. This role is within Hillcrest Hospital South, a full-service 180-bed facility located in south Tulsa. The hospital is recognized for its cutting-edge technology and welcoming community environment, and is the only DNV Orthopedic Center of Excellence (OCE) in Oklahoma. It also boasts an RN residency program accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a Practice Transition Accreditation Program and Pathway to Excellence. As a Phlebotomy Supervisor, you will function as a laboratory professional responsible for leading the Phlebotomy laboratory department, with direct oversight of staff performing specimen collection duties. Your responsibilities will include overseeing training, competencies, scheduling, and operations within the department. Additionally, you may be required to perform specimen collections such as venipuncture, capillary draws, urine collection instruction, and specimen culture collection instruction, as needed by the hospital or laboratory and assigned by your supervisor. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Completion of an accredited phlebotomy/medical assistant program with clinical rotations or previous phlebotomy experience
  • Certification from nationally recognized agency in Phlebotomy, Medical Laboratory Assistant, Medical Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology
  • Clinical laboratory experience as a Phlebotomist, Medical Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Technician within a clinical laboratory

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technician with knowledge of phlebotomy practices
  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science
  • Five (5) or more years as a phlebotomist or in a technical laboratory position
  • BLS

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Phlebotomy laboratory department
  • Provide direct oversight of staff who perform specimen collection duties
  • Oversee training within the phlebotomy department
  • Oversee competencies within the phlebotomy department
  • Oversee scheduling within the phlebotomy department
  • Oversee operations within the phlebotomy department
  • Perform specimen collections (venipuncture, capillary draws, urine collection instruction, and specimen culture collection instruction) based on hospital/laboratory need, as assigned by their supervisor
