Position Summary: Performs venipuncture and specimen collection/processing; completes chain-of-custody collections and breath alcohol testing as required; supports order entry and related clerical workflows; answers laboratory phones and provides customer service; assists with inventory of phlebotomy supplies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Nice To Haves

  • An approved nationally accredited training course in Phlebotomy Preferred
  • Certification from ASCP or NHA Preferred
  • Formal Phlebotomy training Preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) to be obtained within 30 days of hire

Responsibilities

  • Collects and processes blood specimens for testing in the laboratory
  • Labels, processes and delivers specimens for testing
  • Collects blood specimens using age-appropriate techniques
  • Maintains equipment and medical supplies
  • Assists with coordinating and conducting blood drives, including interviewing and screening donors
