About The Position

This position will support the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program. The person in this position will represent International SOS Government Medical Services, Inc. and provide services outlined below: International SOS Government Medical Services, Inc. is looking for an individual who is an experienced phlebotomist to safely and efficiently collect blood samples from patients for diagnostic testing, transfusions, or research purposes, while ensuring patient comfort and adherence to safety protocols. This role is crucial in supporting healthcare providers by obtaining accurate laboratory results essential for effective patient care.

Requirements

  • Must possess a current phlebotomy certification from the state of California.
  • Must possess 6 months of experience performing venipunctures.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English to effectively communicate.
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.
  • Pass/possess VA Public Trust Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide routine and STAT testing on blood, urine, and other body fluids Services
  • Collect, transport, process, and evaluate specimen suitability for testing, including receiving, delivering, and storing specimens for all lab sections.
  • Positively identifies patients prior to sample collection and samples prior to testing or aliquoting.
  • Safeguards electronic and paper patient information.
  • Independently tests, evaluates, documents, and reports patient testing and Quality Control (QC); identifies, documents, and resolves any collection, processing, testing or reporting issues.

  • Assures patient-centered care and provides service in a manner that is professional and will avoid complaints from all stakeholders and customers.
  • Follow all established patient safety and infection control standards of care.
  • Make every effort to prevent falls, and patient injury caused by acts of commission or omission in the delivery of care. All events related to patient injury and other breeches of patient safety shall be reported to the COR per VA Safety Policy.
  • Completes required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.
