About The Position

Obtains blood for laboratory examination by venipuncture.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school/GED Program.
  • Certified as a Phlebotomist, or completion of Introduction to Phlebotomy and Clinical Phlebotomy coursework from an accredited school and ability to obtain certification within thirty (30) days of hire.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the general public.

Responsibilities

  • Performs venipuncture on clients.
  • Orders and maintains adequate medical supplies for laboratory procedures in phlebotomy room and for all clinical services.
  • Adheres to universal protocol precautions when disposing of all contaminated items in compliance with standard precautions and protocol while performing phlebotomy and/or laboratory procedures.
  • Prepares, packages and transports lab specimens to appropriate destinations for processing.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
