About The Position
Job Summary: The Phlebotomist conducts specimen collection and processing with an emphasis on accuracy, timeliness, completeness, safety, and compliance while maintaining a professional image and adhering to our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values. Founded in 1906, McLeod Health is a locally owned and managed, not for profit organization supported by the strength of more than 900 members on its medical staff and more than 2,900 licensed nurses. McLeod Health is also composed of approximately 15,000 team members and more than 90 physician practices throughout its 18-county service area. With seven hospitals, McLeod Health operates three Health and Fitness Centers, a Sports Medicine and Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, Hospice and Home Health Services. Requirements
- High school diploma or GED from an accredited school required.
Nice To Haves
- Phlebotomy certificate preferred
Responsibilities
- Follow proper specimen identification procedures during specimen collection and labeling.
- Collects, prepares, processes, stores and/or transports specimens using correct techniques and anticoagulants.
- Receive incoming phone calls, documents and follow through on incoming requests.
- Investigate, document, and resolve specimen issues to ensure timely and accurate reporting of results.
- Performs housekeeping tasks involved in maintaining the laboratory in a clean, orderly, and safe condition.
- Train new students, staff and document proficiency as directed.
- Effectively use computer options relevant to job duties.
- Other duties as assigned.
