About The Position

Collects laboratory specimens from patients; performs routine laboratory tests; and performs various clerical duties. Orders supplies and manages inventory. Submits invoices for billing purposes per facility policy. Trains new phlebotomist and prepares weekly schedule for bench rotations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and less than one year of specialized training or education.
  • Must have completed the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science approved phlebotomy program, or an acceptable formal structured phlebotomy program approved by the American Society of Clinical Pathologist as a prerequisite for phlebotomist technician, or have a minimum of one year full time experience as a Phlebotomist.
  • At least two (2) years’ experience in a related field.
  • An individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Inventory software; Order processing systems and Word Processing software.
  • Must be a Registered Phlebotomy Technician with the American Society of Clinical Pathologist or American Medical Technologist or equivalent and maintain throughout employment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within ninety (90) days of hire and maintained throughout employment.
  • Employee must not and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG’s Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA’s List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG’s List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
  • Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care.
  • The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
