About The Position

The Phlebotomist Lab Assistant II at IU Health's laboratories provides general laboratory services, including specimen collection, blood component preparation, pre-analytic processing of specimens, waived testing, and identified moderate complexity testing, along with related clerical tasks. This role may also involve patient and specimen registration and delivery of specimens. IU Health operates some of Indiana's most comprehensive laboratory services, performing over 19 million tests annually, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Requirements

  • Requires HS grad or GED Equivalent
  • Requires proven understanding of computers
  • Requires telephone skills
  • Requires strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team member
  • Requires ability to perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods of time
  • May require a valid Indiana Operators license and a good driving history for the last three years
  • May require an understanding of the traffic laws in the State of Indiana

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a phlebotomy training program with experience in laboratory or coursework in biological, chemical or related science preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide general laboratory services including specimen collection
  • Perform blood component preparation
  • Conduct pre-analytic processing of specimens
  • Perform waived testing and identified moderate complexity testing
  • Complete related clerical tasks
  • May be responsible for patient and specimen registration
  • May be responsible for delivery of specimens
