About The Position

This Lab Assistant / Phlebotomist position at CentraCare is ideal for individuals entering the healthcare industry or laboratory profession. On-the-job phlebotomy skills training is provided, and current students or those with minimal experience are encouraged to apply. As a Phlebotomist, you will collect blood and other biologic samples from patients, fostering an atmosphere of trust and confidence. As a Lab Assistant, you will need demonstrable knowledge of basic chemistry tests, hematology, urinalysis, and basic venipuncture and capillary collection skills. Lab Assistants may also perform low complexity testing, culture set-up, diagnostic coding, and patient registration. Current students and individuals with some lab experience are a great match for the Lab Assistant role.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required
Knowledge of medical terminology
Basic computer skills
Demonstrable knowledge of basic chemistry tests (for Lab Assistants)
Demonstrable knowledge of hematology (for Lab Assistants)
Demonstrable knowledge of urinalysis (for Lab Assistants)
Basic venipuncture and capillary collection skills (for Lab Assistants)

Nice To Haves

Graduate from or in the process of pursuing a degree from an accredited laboratory or medicine-related program
Current students and individuals with minimal experience (for Phlebotomist)
Current students and others with some lab experience (for Lab Assistant)
