About The Position

Indiana University Health Foundation seeks a motivated and detail‑oriented summer intern to provide project‑based support across donor communications, grants, and strategic planning initiatives. This internship offers hands‑on exposure to healthcare philanthropy and cross‑functional work that supports the Foundation’s 2025–2027 Strategic Plan. The intern will contribute to meaningful projects that strengthen internal operations, improve documentation and processes, and help the Foundation evaluate the impact and return on investment (ROI) of priority initiatives. This role is ideal for a master's student interested in nonprofit strategy, communications, operations, or healthcare systems. Requirements

Must be enrolled in a master's program in Philanthropy or related field. IU Lilly Family School of Philanthropy students are encouraged to apply.
Strong written communication skills, including editing and proofreading
Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and comfortable managing multiple projects
Interest in philanthropy, nonprofit operations, communications, strategy, or healthcare
Ability to work independently while collaborating across teams
Comfort using Microsoft Office tools and learning new systems
Curious, proactive, and willing to ask questions to understand how work connects across the organization

Responsibilities

Support the tracking and documentation of progress across the Foundation’s 10 strategic pilot projects
Assist with maintaining project status updates, milestones, and key deliverables
Help evaluate and summarize ROI and impact of pilot projects, including qualitative and quantitative indicators
Support synthesis of learnings to inform future decision‑making, scaling, or refinement of initiatives
Contribute to materials that help leadership and teams understand progress and outcomes related to strategic priorities
Support internal‑facing communications requests across the Foundation, such as documents, tools, or resources intended for internal team use
Assist in formatting, organizing, and enhancing internal materials to ensure they are clear, professional, and easy to use
Serve as a resource for internal projects where teams want materials to be functional and visually polished
Conduct research on donor‑facing communications, including social media, websites, and peer organizations
Help assess what is working well, where there are opportunities to improve, and emerging best practices
Summarize insights related to messaging, channels, formats, and engagement trends to inform future communications strategies
Provide supplemental support to the communications team as needed, including filling short‑term gaps or supporting special projects
Assist with organizing resources, templates, and documentation that support consistency and efficiency
Support Foundation‑wide efforts to document standard operating procedures across teams
Continue and advance SOP work initiated by a previous intern, ensuring continuity and completion
Help ensure teams clearly understand: What needs to be done How it should be done Where templates, tools, and resources are located
Assist with organizing SOP templates and documentation in shared locations
Support basic check‑ins or tracking to help reinforce accountability and adoption of documented processes
Provide project‑based support for grants work across both pre‑award and post‑award activities
Assist with prospect research, proposal development support, and internal coordination
Support organization of grant materials, documentation, and impact tracking
Help ensure consistency and clarity in grant‑related processes and resources
