PhD Health Services Researcher - Associate Professor or Professor
About The Position
The Department of Surgery at the University of Utah is seeking a senior-level PhD faculty member to join our Health Services Research ( HSR ) Section. This position is open to candidates at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. Rank dependent upon qualifications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in health services research and a history of sustained external funding, with a preference for NIH funding (e.g. R01). The position will be supported at 50% FTE with hard, departmental level funding. The remainder of the salary will be expected to be obtained through external funding. 50% of time will be dedicated to providing senior leadership within the HSR Section and mentorship of junior and mid-career faculty in the area of HSR /Outcomes.
Requirements
- PhD, Health Services Research
- Proven ability to advance the science of health services research. Evidence of a successful research program, including a history of multiple funded R01 grants or equivalent.
- Experience working with large health and demographic datasets. Strong understanding of data systems and data linkage.
- Commitment to mentoring junior faculty as well as pre- and post-doctoral trainees.
- Track record of building successful interdisciplinary teams. Ability to communicate effectively and obtain the committed support of a wide range of stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Conduct innovative research that advances the field of health services and outcomes research.
- Mentor trainees (e.g., graduate students, postdoctoral fellows) and junior faculty in health services research.
- Provide leadership to develop collaborative, interdisciplinary research activities within the Department of Surgery and across the University of Utah.
- Foster partnerships between the Department of Surgery, the University of Utah Health system, and external research centers focused on health services and outcomes research.
