Advanced Houston Specialty Hospital is looking for a part-time Pharmacy Technician to work at our newly renovated facility at 205 Hollow Tree Lane, Spring, TX . Pay starting at $22.00 Position Summary: The Pharmacy Technician supports the preparation and distribution of medications and related functions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist in a secure correctional healthcare setting. This role plays a vital part in ensuring safe, accurate, and timely medication services to an incarcerated population, while maintaining compliance with institutional, state, and federal guidelines.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Current Pharmacy Tech registration or Pharmacist intern registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy required.
  • Minimum 1 year hospital pharmacy experience is required.
  • IV certification required.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
  • Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements to include physical agility test and pass an annual background check.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, package, and label medications for dispensing as prescribed, under pharmacist supervision
  • Process medication orders using institutional pharmacy software
  • Maintain accurate inventory of medications, supplies, and controlled substances
  • Deliver and restock medication carts or cabinets within the facility housing units or medical areas
  • Handle returns, destructions, and expired medications in compliance with protocols
  • Assist with maintaining cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy work area
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare staff, custody officers, and patients as needed
  • Adhere to strict security protocols at all times
  • Document and report medication discrepancies, shortages, or incidents per policy
  • Participate in quality assurance, audits, and compliance procedures
  • It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her scope of work as determined by management.
