About The Position

Corewell Health Lakeland's mission is to improve health, inspire hope, and save lives by providing compassionate care and encouraging wellness. They are a not-for-profit, community-owned health system with three hospitals, an outpatient surgery center, long-term care, and hospice care across over 56 access points in Southwest Michigan. The system is expanding with a new 22,000-square-foot facility in Niles, Michigan, expected to open in March 2023, offering coordinated health services from diagnostics to primary and specialty care. Under the direction of a Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician provides technical assistance, processing, and preparing medications and supplies. This role involves working with multiple medication automation systems, delivering medications and supplies to patient care areas, and triaging phone calls and messages from multidisciplinary team members. The technician must be capable of working in complex pharmacy areas such as satellites, sterile product compounding, controlled substance handling, and inventory management. Responsibilities also include preparing complex sterile formulations, potentially hazardous or biologic products (with proper training), packaging bulk medications into unit-of-use, handling controlled substances per federal and state law, and maintaining a clean and organized work area. The technician is also responsible for maintaining CPhT certifications and completing all assigned Corewell Health competencies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • LIC-Pharmacist Intern - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required Or LIC-Pharmacy Technician Temp - STATE_MI State of Michigan Must obtain full licensure w/in 90 days of hire. Upon Hire required
  • LIC-Pharmacy Technician - STATE_MI State of Michigan 90 Days required
  • CRT-Pharmacy Technician, Certified (CPHT) - PTCB Pharmacy Technician Certification Board Excludes - LIC- Pharmacist Intern 90 Days required Or CRT-Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT) - NHA National Healthcareer Association Excludes - LIC- Pharmacist Intern 90 Days required
  • Full Pharmacy Technician License and National Certification, such as PTCB or ExCPT

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical assistance, processing and preparing medications and supplies

  • Delivers pharmacy prepared medications, controlled substances and supplies to various nursing stations/patient care areas
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area
  • Maintains all requirements for CPhT certifications
  • Completes all Corewell Health assigned competencies by assigned due dates
