Position Summary Pharmacy Technician I Education/formal training/licensure/certification/experience: High school graduate or completion of GED Pharmacy technician certification must be obtained within 1 year of employment, and must acquire continuing education to maintain certification Must register with N.C. Board of Pharmacy within 6 months of employment One year of pharmacy experience preferred. If no pharmacy experience, medical and/or clerical experience preferred. Responsibilities Additional Skills: Must have good organizational and time management skills to balance a high volume workload without sacrificing efficiency. Must have good mathematical skills to calculate medication dosages correctly and independently. Technician must have good people skills to interact professionally with pharmacy staff, physicians, nurses, patients, and other FHRMH employees. Attention to detail is a must to ensure correct medication is dispensed. Qualifications Working Conditions: Physical: Participates in creating a safe culture by optimizing safety at all times. Walking, standing, and lifting are required activities. Visual acuity is required. Finger dexterity is required to handle packaged medications, prepare IV medications, manipulate forms and labels, and operate computer keyboard. Hearing acuity is required for communication with other employees. Potential risk for possible exposure to communicable diseases. Possible exposure to chemical and cytotoxic agents. Psycosocial: Able to deal with frustration and stress appropriately. Remains calm under pressure. Other: Able to work long and flexible hours which may include weekends and holidays. Ensures critical services are provided during inclement weather and disasters.
