The Pharmacy Technician assists a Registered Pharmacist with non-professional and non-judgmental tasks related to preparing and dispensing medication. Key duties include filling, packaging, labeling, and stocking unit dose carts from patient profiles or computerized pick lists, and delivering them to nursing units. The role also involves filling medication bottles manually or mechanically, labeling drug containers according to specifications, and assisting in clean air rooms with sterile techniques for injectable prescriptions and IV additives. Additionally, the technician is responsible for maintaining various records and reports, such as IV records, inpatient medication records, and records for extemporaneous medications, as well as assisting with statistics and entering refill orders into a computer system. Inventory management is also a core responsibility, including maintaining sufficient stock at workstations, transporting pharmacy materials, and managing stock and inventory control records to ensure efficient operating conditions.
