The Pharmacy Technician – Oncology supports safe and accurate preparation of oncology therapies by compounding sterile preparations throughout the day while assisting with inventory management and ordering of medications and supplies. This role collaborates closely with pharmacy technicians, pharmacists and nursing staff to support patient care in a highly specialized environment. A caregiver in this position works an 8 hour shift, Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00am to 5:30pm. No weekend, holiday or on-call requirements.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Licensed in Florida as a Registered Pharmacy Technician
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) upon or within 18 months of hire
• Ability to perform algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds
• Basic computer skills

Nice To Haves

• Completion of a formal Pharmacy Technician Training Program
• Six months of hospital experience and IV compounding experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Prepare medications through selecting, labeling, repacking, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding.
• Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations in an accurate and timely manner.
• Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies and complete inventory audits, such as cycle counts and nursing unit inspections.
• Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations, and document regulatory requirements such as temperature logs, scheduled activities and training.
• Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks.
• Assist with the training of pharmacy caregivers and students.
