About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician – Inventory Specialist is responsible for managing pharmacy inventory operations to ensure accurate stock levels, regulatory compliance, and efficient medication distribution. This role supports procurement, storage, and tracking of medications and supplies while maintaining compliance with all applicable laws and safety standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3 years relevant pharmacy technician experience OR Undergraduate degree and relevant pharmacy technician experience
  • Eligible for licensure or licensed pharmacy technician by the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate inventory levels through routine monitoring, cycle counts, and full inventory counts.
  • Place drug orders with an emphasis on maximizing the 340B program utilization.
  • Order and maintain adequate supplies to support pharmacy operations.
  • Receive, unpack, and verify incoming orders in compliance with DSCSA requirements.
  • Accurately stock and shelf medications, ensuring proper storage conditions and organization.
  • Apply received medications to perpetual inventory systems and ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Review and reconcile invoices; ensure timely and accurate submission.
  • Monitor and manage insufficient inventory queues to prevent stockouts.
  • Analyze and work on slow mover reports to optimize inventory turnover and reduce waste.
  • Gather, prepare, and process medication returns, including expired/wasted products and recalls.
  • Pull and coordinate recalled medications in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in contract setup and maintain purchasing frameworks, including the creation of purchase order (PO) structures.

  • Prepare compounded medications, including sterile products such as IV fluids, when required.
  • Adhere to all pharmacy laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and documentation of controlled substances.
  • Maintain compliance with safety protocols and regulatory standards, including DSCSA and compounding requirements.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
