About The Position

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through PTCB or NHA required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience as a Pharmacy Technician with a strong focus on inventory management in a retail, hospital, or distribution pharmacy setting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in pharmaceutical inventory control principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in using inventory management software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify and resolve inventory discrepancies.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration and reporting.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical storage requirements, controlled substance regulations, and hazardous drug handling guidelines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Associate's Degree or higher in a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute all aspects of pharmaceutical inventory management, including ordering, receiving, stocking, rotation, and reconciliation of medications and supplies.
  • Conduct regular inventory counts, perform audits, and investigate discrepancies to maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Manage and optimize inventory levels to minimize waste, prevent stockouts, and reduce carrying costs, utilizing inventory management software and tools.
  • Oversee the proper storage and handling of pharmaceuticals, adhering to manufacturer guidelines, regulatory requirements (e.g., USP <797>, <800>), and company policies.
  • Process returns, recalls, and expired medications according to established procedures, ensuring proper documentation and disposal.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists, purchasing, and other departments to forecast demand, identify potential supply chain issues, and implement proactive solutions.
  • Train and mentor junior pharmacy technicians on inventory best practices, software utilization, and compliance standards.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of inventory management policies, procedures, and workflows.
  • Utilize and maintain inventory management software systems (e.g., ERP, WMS) for accurate data entry, reporting, and analysis.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to inventory control and supply chain efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
