Summary: The registered and certified pharmacy technician II works under the direct supervision of licensed pharmacists to provide distributive pharmacy services and support to the pharmacy department. Additionally, provides a high level of assistance in distribution, dispensing, and compounding of sterile and non-sterile medications, and related supplies in compliance with accreditation, legal, regulatory, and safety requirements. This position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $5K, contingent upon the applicant's qualifications and subject to certain eligibility requirements. Please note, that candidates must possess prior inpatient work experience to qualify for the sign-on bonus.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPT LICENSE) - State of Florida (FL)
  • Requires critical thinking skills, effective communication skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work well with others in a team with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrate the ability to respond positively in a stressful environment and meet the physical demands of the department.
  • One (1) year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician.

Responsibilities

  • Performs prescription data entry in pharmacy system when applicable.
  • Process medication charges/credits when applicable.
  • Prepares, fills, receives, delivers, stocks and restocks medication inventory and supplies for the pharmacy department and drug storage areas.
  • Repackages bulk medications.
  • Prepares non-sterile compounded medications, including hazardous medications and cross trains in more advance functions when deem appropriate
  • Responsible for assisting with orientation and training of new pharmacy technicians and students .
  • Maintains and supports medication distribution systems and distribution channels, including automated dispensing cabinets, code carts, trays and kits.
  • Completes other responsibilities as assigned in support of pharmacy operations and within the pharmacy technician scope of practice.
  • Assists with customer service and patient needs, including answering telephones, managing work queues and completing medication histories.
