About The Position

Join our growing Purchasing team! This Pharmacy Technician position is a full time opportunity Monday - Friday days with no weekend commitments located at our Southlake campus in Lenexa, Kansas. This team member will play a vital role in ensuring proper medication and supplies are distributed appropriately between our Southlake campus and our other locations throughout the metro.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED.
  • 2 or more years experience as a pharmacy technician in a comparable setting
  • Pharmacy Technician Registration - State Board of Pharmacy Kansas and/or Missouri - per work state upon Hire
  • Technician must maintain certification on an ongoing basis and complete all continuing education requirements.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) OR equivalent National Pharmacy Technician Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares medications for dispensing: Identifies and resolves common preparation issues (e.g. missing barcode) by applying expert knowledge to facilitate conversion of bulk medications into unit-dose packaging. Independently prepares medications for dispensing with minimal supervision.
  • Distributes medications and stock items: Applies expert knowledge to optimize medication distribution across the health system (e.g. courier logistics, cold-chain transportation). Troubleshoots delivery issues and ensures timely resolution.
  • Maintains Pharmacy Inventory: Applies expert knowledge to place medication orders requiring advanced knowledge. Anticipates inventory needs of the pharmacy. Investigates inventory discrepancies and resolves.
  • Operates pharmacy computer systems: Independently takes initiative to resolve/troubleshoot issues related to inventory and dispensing systems. Utilizes advanced system functions (e.g., Par vs. Usage report).
  • Compliance and recordkeeping: Applies expert knowledge to maintain required logs and records, from creation to safekeeping (including offsite) and ultimate destruction.
  • Patient Care: Communicates effectively with patients, caregivers, and staff to resolve routine service concerns. Provides accurate information about pharmacy processes while escalating clinical inquiries to a pharmacist.
  • Medication Safety: Identifies potential safety risks and recommends mitigation strategies. Collaborates with pharmacists and leaders to correct issues.
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
