Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist and according to standard procedures, the Pharmacy Technician I assists in transcription, storage, preparation, dispensing, and delivery of medications. This entry-level pharmacy position is responsible for learning and assisting with non-sterile and/or sterile compounding, operating pharmacy automation systems, and maintaining accurate documentation and records in compliance with regulatory standards. The role involves distributing medications to designated areas, returning unused, discontinued, or damaged doses to the pharmacy, and properly utilizing automation to ensure medications are secured and in-date. The technician supports inventory management activities including receipt, storage, security, and inspection, ensuring inventory areas are clean, rotated, in-date, and properly labeled. Adherence to regulatory requirements and quality assurance standards is crucial, as is completing all documentation and maintaining records. The position requires promoting a safe practice environment, reporting safety events, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining high standards of confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA. The technician must work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
