Prepares and delivers medications to patients and/or nursing units under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner. Online classroom training through Pharmacy Technician University. (Must pass Reading Comprehension and Math Pre-enrollment Assessments in three attempts or less. A minimum score of 70% is required for each assessment prior to acceptance into the program). Experiential training in our state-of-the-art pharmacy, Preparation for passing the national certification exam. Candidates accepting a position will continue in their role as a pharmacy technician after completing the program and achieving their Virginia Registration. Candidates must complete Pharmacy Technician University and achieve registration within 2 years of employment. This position is being filled for the evening shift. About the Department UVA Health’s Inpatient Pharmacy serves an average daily census of 528 patients across the hospital. Our pharmacy technicians are essential to the safe and timely delivery of medications, working under the supervision of licensed pharmacists or independent practitioners. What We Do Pharmacy Technicians in this department: Prepare and label medications for inpatient use Deliver medications directly to nursing units and patient care areas Support clinical workflows and medication safety protocols Collaborate with pharmacists to ensure accuracy and efficiency Note: Sterile compounding is performed in a newly renovated, state-of-the-art IV clean room.
