About The Position

Prepares and delivers medications to patients and/or nursing units under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner. Demonstrates the ability to competently work in different (omit) general and specialized areas of pharmacy practice. This role is being filled for the night shift. About the Department The IV Room is a specialized unit within UVA Health’s Inpatient Pharmacy, dedicated to sterile compounding in a newly renovated, state-of-the-art clean room. This environment supports high-acuity patient care across the hospital’s 528-bed inpatient census. What We Do Pharmacy Technicians in the IV Room: Perform sterile compounding of IV medications in compliance with USP <797> and <800> standards Prepare chemotherapy, antibiotics, and other critical infusions for both adult and pediatric patients Operate within a controlled clean room environment to ensure safety and accuracy Collaborate with pharmacists to meet urgent and routine patient needs

Requirements

  • Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • Experience: 6 months minimum relevant experience
  • Licensure/Certifications: Commonwealth of Virginia Pharmacy Technician Registration required.
  • CPhT credential through National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required.
  • For team members hired prior to February 1, 2020, certification as CPhT through NHA or PTCB is required by January 31, 2022.
  • Physical Demands – Job requires standing for prolonged periods.
  • Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to write legibly
  • Ability to lift/push/pull less than 20lbs
