About The Position

Job Description - Pharmacy Tech levels 1 - 5: This posting is for a shared outpatient/retail pharmacy technician position. The primary work locations will be the Mayo Clinic Health System Clinic Pharmacies in Albert Lea and Austin, Minnesota. Candidates must also be available to work occasionally at the Mayo Clinic Health System Clinic Pharmacy in Cannon Falls. Candidates must also be willing and able to drive and deliver medications to patients’ homes. Assists the pharmacist in providing optimal pharmaceutical care to the patient. Accurately and efficiently processes prescriptions. Interacts with patients and managed care plans to authorize prescription coverage. Assembles prescriptions and follows proper procedures to prepare and dispense medications. Accurately and efficiently completes patient purchase transactions utilizing point of sale systems. Assists with maintaining accurate medication inventories and billing of medications. Effectively communicates utilizing established systems and processes. Performs responsibilities and duties of the job in a manner that is attentive to age and ability considerations. Qualifications NOTE: These qualifications apply to the Pharmacy Tech Level 1, which are the minimum qualifications that must be met for all levels. Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent Additional Qualifications Effectively reads, writes, speaks and understands English. Able to learn technical tasks. Able to follow written and verbal directions. Able to apply math and calculator skills along with a working knowledge of the metric system. Possess strong telephone and verbal communication skills. Experience with the use of office software computer applications and keyboarding. Prior experience as an outpatient pharmacy technician preferred. Demonstrated ability to work in a busy environment and pay attention to detail. Proven organizational and problem solving skills. Proven ability to effectively work both independently and in a team environment. No history of drug abuse or misuse; or proof of successful completion of a certified drug abuse rehabilitation program is required. License and Certification Current registration or eligibility for registration with the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy where required by state regulation. National Pharmacy Technician certification within 12-months of hire. This vacancy is not eligible for sponsorship/ we will not sponsor or transfer visas for this position. Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.
