Position Summary The Pharmacy Technician plays a critical role in supporting safe, accurate, and efficient prescription processing while enhancing the overall customer healthcare experience. This position is responsible for reviewing and entering prescriptions, researching and resolving prescription overrides, and thoughtfully addressing escalated prescription-related issues. Using strong analytical skills and attention to detail, the Pharmacy Technician ensures timely and accurate prescription fulfillment in compliance with all pharmacy protocols and regulatory requirements. Key responsibilities include accurately reading, interpreting, and entering prescription information into pharmacy systems; conducting outbound and inbound calls with prescribers and members; and communicating with physicians via phone or fax to obtain prescription clarifications, substitutions, or formulary alternatives. The technician also assists members and prescribers by addressing questions related to prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, and non-prescription healthcare products, providing appropriate guidance to support informed decision-making. This role supports insurance verification processes by contacting insurance providers to obtain prior authorizations, resolve coverage issues, and clarify benefits, copayments, and claims. The Pharmacy Technician processes payments, manages insurance claims, and ensures accurate handling of all financial transactions. The technician ensures full compliance with pharmacy laws, regulations, and guidelines, including patient confidentiality, controlled substance handling, and prescription labeling requirements. Strong organizational skills are required to prioritize tasks, manage customer queues, and collaborate effectively with pharmacists and other pharmacy personnel to maintain efficient workflow and high service levels. In addition, experienced Pharmacy Technicians may provide training and mentorship to less experienced team members, assist with onboarding new employees, and contribute to a positive, collaborative, and productive work environment. To support operational needs and workflow efficiency, technicians may be asked to perform additional pharmacy-related tasks as required. This is a remote position, requiring the ability to work independently in a home-based environment. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong time management, self-motivation, and the ability to remain engaged, productive, and professional outside of a traditional office setting.
