About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY: Assists the pharmacist in preparing medications for dispensing. Does not dispense any medication that isn’t double checked by a registered pharmacist. Is directly responsible for running the pharmacy robot and maintaining stock in automated dispensing cabinets. Draws up doses in the IV class 10,000 clean room utilizing a class 100 laminar flow hood and aseptic technique. Performs pharmacy stock QA inspections on all nursing units. Makes delivery/pickup rounds to unit and departments and performs computer order entry functions. Completes other tasks as assigned by supervisors/pharmacists. Provides customer service by processing paper, electronic and phone requests for medications. EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE: High School diploma required. Some previous pharmacy related or hospital clinical background preferred. Preference will be given to nationally certified pharmacy technicians. Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise. Pharmacy Tech I : Less than one year of experience, or 1+ years of experience without a Pharmacy Technician certification Pharmacy Tech ll: 1 year of experience and a Pharmacy Technician certification Pharmacy Tech lll: 1 year of experience and a Pharmacy Technician certification, and a specialty area of assignment ( trainer, automation expert, etc)

Requirements

  • High School diploma required.
  • Less than one year of experience, or 1+ years of experience without a Pharmacy Technician certification

Nice To Haves

  • Some previous pharmacy related or hospital clinical background preferred.
  • Preference will be given to nationally certified pharmacy technicians.
