The PGY-2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency Program at Stanford Health Care (SHC) is a 12-month program accredited by the American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists (ASHP). Successful completion of the program will prepare the resident for critical care pharmacy or academic positions, as well as the competency to attain Board Certification in Critical Care Pharmacy. One applicant is accepted per year. At SHC, the PGY-2 critical care resident will receive valuable intensive care experience at a cutting-edge teaching hospital, Level I Trauma Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Comprehensive Cardiac Center. Our objective is to build upon the skills obtained from Doctor of Pharmacy and PGY-1 residency to further the training of highly qualified and motivated practitioners utilizing evidence-based medicine, and to develop the resident to be confident and proficient in fast paced and high acuity clinical scenarios. With 121 ICU and 643 total licensed beds, over 100,000 emergency room visits annually, and more than 30,000 inpatient admissions each year, we offer a challenging, diverse caseload in multiple ICU settings.
