About The Position

The Post-graduate Year One (PGY1) resident develops, through a one year training program, the appropriate knowledge and skills to provide optimal pharmaceutical care. The PGY1 Resident serves as a resource to other health care professionals and students. Practices as a pharmacist is accordance with all of the established standards. The PGY1 residency program maintains accreditation through the American Society for Health-System Pharmacy. The PGY1 resident must meet all requirements in order to maintain this position and graduate from the program successfully.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an American Council on Pharmacy Education accredited school of pharmacy.
  • ACPE IV certification course completion required.
  • Texas Pharmacist License or eligible for Texas Licensure as a registered pharmacist.
  • Pharmacist licensure must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
  • Must obtain preceptor license after 6 months of licensure as a pharmacist.
  • Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification (within 30 days of employement).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification (within 60 days of employment).
  • ACPE IV Certification (obtained from approved course completed during pharmacy school or ACPE accredited course).
