Your Job: The primary purpose of the Staff Pharmacist is to perform professional, clinical tasks that will ensure the highest quality of pharmaceutical care and results in an optimal patient care setting. Supports the mission, vision, values and strategic goals of Methodist Health System Your Job Requirements: • Current license as a Registered Pharmacist by the state of Texas – REQUIRED Your Job Responsibilities: • Ability to supervise, train and manage workflow of technicians and other pharmacists. Completes all assigned work procedures during the shift without compromising the quality of work performed. • Develops good judgement in organizing and prioritizing workload in order to meet immediate needs. • Assist in maintaining inventory levels of pharmaceuticals and supplies, assuring storage under proper conditions in accordance with all regulatory requirements. • Communicates availability of medications and supplies to department when inventory is below par. Follows procedures and completes documentation of all items leaving the pharmacy. • Capable of utilizing automation and technology, including software to achieve optimum work outcomes. • Compounds and dispenses medications and other pharmaceutical supplies using approved standards and procedures. • Ensures that all items dispensed by the pharmacy department have the correct dose, dosage form, and labeling. • Continually develops a general knowledge base of drugs and drug therapy in order to perform more effectively as a patient care and drug information provider. • Actively participates in departmental education activities. • Knows the procedures and functions of areas relating to patient care and is able to assist in any drug distribution area when needed, including the IV lab. • Medication order interpretation, order entry, charging, and filling of all patient orders. • Performs and documents clinical activities such as interventions, pharmacokinetic monitoring, and antibiotic streamlining. • Retrieves, evaluates, and disseminates drug information to other health care professionals and patients. Consults with physicians, nurses, and allied health personnel regarding drug related issues. • Performs patient profile review for completeness, allergy conflicts, and appropriateness of dose for patient parameters, duplicate drug therapy, and all drug interactions. • Contacts and confers with the physician in a manner that results in an effective outcome when questions, irregularities, or problems are encountered. • Performs any special projects assigned by management team. • Other duties as assigned.
