About The Position

You have a purpose, unique talents and now is the time to embrace it, live it and put it to work. We value incredible people with incredible skills – but your commitment to a greater cause is something we value even more. This is the heartbeat of our organization and your time will be spent in a supportive, team environment with resources to help you flourish and leaders who care about your success. Pharmacy postgraduate year one (PGY1) pharmacy residency programs build on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training. The goal of the PGY1 pharmacy residency is to enable pharmacy graduates to gain additional knowledge and experience beyond that of the traditional academic setting, intern pharmacy clerkships and general hospital practice. PGY1 pharmacy residents will advance professional responsibility, be prepared to train and teach future pharmacy providers, learn to promote their own professional growth and maturity, and develop leadership practice skills they can apply to their chosen area of the pharmacy profession. The PGY1 pharmacy residency program is designed to meet the accreditation standards of the American Society of Health Care Pharmacists (ASHP). The PGY1 resident participates in the development and implementation of departmental goals and objectives to improve pharmaceutical services and standards of patient care. The PGY1 resident also promotes the department's delivery of pharmaceutical care with the primary focus on patient safety and efficacy. The resident reports to the Residency Program Coordinator, Director and/or the Pharmacy Clinical Manager. The resident remains in this classification for 12 months from date of hire.
