About The Position

About the Unit Our team is comprised of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. Our inpatient pharmacy team collaborates closely with healthcare providers to ensure optimal medication management for hospitalized patients. We oversee the medication storage, distribution, and management in a variety of settings. We review medication orders for accuracy and potential interactions, accurately prepare and dispense medications, provide evidence-based drug information, monitor drug levels to optimize therapy, and educate patients and families about their medications. By prioritizing medication safety and minimizing adverse events, we strive to improve patient outcomes and contribute to their overall well-being. About Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital (Royal Oak) Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital opened on Jan. 24, 1955 as a 238-bed community hospital. Today, the hospital is a 1,101-bed major academic and referral center with Level I adult trauma and Level II pediatric trauma designations. Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital has 43 residency and fellowship programs with 454 residents and fellows. Corewell is the exclusive clinical partner of the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine, with more than 1,400 doctors on faculty. Scope of Job The PGY1 residency program will build upon Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and outcomes to develop pharmacist practitioners with knowledge, skills, and abilities as defined in the educational competency areas, goals, and objectives. Residents who successfully complete the PGY1 residency program will be skilled in diverse patient care, practice management, leadership, and education, and be prepared to provide patient care, seek board certification in pharmacotherapy (i.e., BCPS), and pursue advanced education and training opportunities including postgraduate year two (PGY2) residencies. Additionally, the PGY1 Pharmacy Resident at Corewell Health will be supervised by designated preceptors in a program designed to accelerate 3-5 years of practice experience into the single pharmacy residency year. Provide safe and effective patient care services, while promoting safe and effective access to medication therapy. Provide patient-centered care through interacting and facilitating effective communication with patients, caregivers, and stakeholders. Participate in the identification and implementation of medication-related interventions for a patient population (population health management). Conduct practice advancement projects. Demonstrate leadership skills that contribute to departmental and/or organizational excellence in the advancement of pharmacy services. Demonstrate leadership skills that foster personal growth and professional engagement. Provide effective medication and practice-related education. Provide professional and practice-related training to meet learners’ educational needs. Complete all additional activities required and outlined by individual Pharmacy Residency Program

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy
  • Experience gained through completion of a pharmacy degree program.
  • LIC-Clinical Pharmacist - STATE_MI State of Michigan 120 Days required
  • LIC-Pharmacist Controlled Substance - STATE_MI State of Michigan 120 Days required
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 180 Days required
  • Or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 180 Days required
  • Or CRT-Pediatric Adv Life Support (PALS) - AHA American Heart Association 180 Days required
  • Or CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association 180 Days required
