The Pharmacy Residency Coordinator (PRC) will be responsible for the strategic planning and all aspects of the residency program. The PRC may delegate various tasks to other preceptors or individuals as needed, but ultimate responsibility for accreditation and success of the residency program lies with the PRC. They will be responsible for the resident recruitment. The PRC will schedule and coordinate all resident interviews. Once residents have been selected, the PRC will manage the resident’s rotating schedule as well as staffing schedule development oversight. They will ensure each resident completes orientation in a timely and sufficient manner. The PRC will update learning experience documentation as needed and prepare for ASHP accreditation documentation and on-site visits. In addition, they will coordinate all activities necessary for Graduate Medical Education (GME) compliance. Research activities, conferences and other educational activities will be coordinated by the PRC during the residency. The PRC will identify qualified preceptors for the residency program and maintain engagement with preceptor development. They will ensure preceptor and resident evaluations are done completely and in a timely manner. Per ASHP Standards, there may only be 1 PRC assigned to each individual residency program. The PRC will be appointed by the Residency Advisory Committee. Approval must be obtained by the PRC candidate’s direct supervisor. Retention of the PRC in their role falls under the purview of the Residency Advisory Committee.
