The Pharmacy Quality Control Specialist position is responsible for establishing quality control processes for the pharmacy to maintain continuous quality improvements. Champion continuous improvement efforts and defect reduction initiatives to establish an effective Quality Management System.

Requirements

  • Minimum one year of pharmacy technician experience.
  • Unrestricted Pharmacy Technician Trainee License or Pharmacy Technician License required; National Certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of medication names; prescription order elements; process new and refill prescriptions
  • Knowledge of monitoring software (e.g., Zoom, Nice, Calabrio, etc.).
  • Quality Analyst experience in Call Center or pharmacy operations environment desired.
  • Strategy and Planning – ability to think ahead, plan and manage time efficiently.
  • Problem Solving – ability to analyze causes and solve problems at both a strategic and functional level.
  • Team Oriented – ability to work effectively and collaboratively with all team members.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment working on multiple tasks simultaneously while adhering to and meeting strict deadlines.
  • Great attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Quality minded; motivated to seek out errors and inquire about inaccuracies Ability to work autonomously in an unstructured environment.
  • Basic computer skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of QAQC Leadership, the Pharmacy Quality Control Specialist is responsible for the quality control of filling and packaging of prescriptions in an accurate and timely manner for delivery to our customers.
  • Verifying Patient Enrollment Forms (PEF) and prescriptions are accurate and all relevant information is complete.
  • Communicate inventory needs to ensure adequate supply of medication is available to complete all orders.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and policies pertaining to the quality control of dispensing of prescription medications.
  • Accurately performs in-process inspections while documenting all activities on appropriate forms.
  • Initiates and implements quality improvement activities as appropriate to raise the performance of the company’s business units (BU) and service lines.
  • Serves as a quality control resource for problem identification, resolution, reporting and continuous improvement.
  • Performs root-cause analysis and other problem-solving activities to identify effective corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Monitors pharmacy performance and reports to management on quality issues, trends, and losses.
  • Interacts with internal customers to identify opportunities to improve quality and establish feedback with BUs and development personnel.
  • All other reasonable duties, as assigned.
