This position involves performing routine tasks related to event review and project work under the guidance of a medication safety pharmacist. The intern will collaborate with pharmacy and non-pharmacy staff to complete assigned tasks efficiently and professionally, demonstrating the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Interns are required to participate in continuing educational opportunities to meet annual competency requirements and engage in departmental training to develop skills in various pharmacy areas. Compliance with all hospital and pharmacy department rules and regulations is mandatory, and interns must possess and maintain a current Ohio Board of Pharmacy Intern license throughout their employment at the OSU Medical Center Department of Pharmacy. The primary function of this role is to assist the medication safety pharmacist in ensuring a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Responsibilities include reviewing event reports to identify contributing factors to errors, assessing the severity of harm, and proposing solutions to prevent future occurrences. Under the pharmacist's guidance, interns will contribute to data collection, analysis, presentation, and discussion for various patient safety projects. Additionally, the intern will support initiatives from the medication safety pharmacist and other preceptors, covering areas such as regulatory compliance, policy maintenance, quality assurance, and auditing.
