About The Position

The Pharmacy Director is responsible for the overall operation and management of the pharmacy department. This role requires regular collaboration with the Administrator, medical staff, nursing staff, hospital departments, and external partners such as vendors and auditors. The Pharmacy Director also functions as a Clinical Pharmacist, ensuring the safe, effective, and timely delivery of medication therapy to District patients. Key responsibilities include supporting medication-use systems and delivering optimal pharmacologic care to patients with a broad range of disease states. The role provides direct patient care in collaboration with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals while supporting interdisciplinary programs and specialty services to ensure pharmacy services are effectively integrated throughout the organization. The Pharmacy Director participates in all aspects of the medication-use process while providing comprehensive, individualized pharmaceutical care. This includes assessing patient needs; incorporating age- and disease-specific considerations into therapy and patient education; monitoring patient response to therapy; and implementing clinical interventions to detect, prevent, and mitigate adverse medication events. Additional responsibilities include serving as a departmental resource to hospital staff and external partners, supporting regulatory compliance, and leading patient care quality initiatives to improve medication-use processes and pharmacy practice. The position also provides medication-related education and training to staff.

Requirements

  • Education: Graduate of an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy
  • Licensure/Certification/Registration : Licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the state of Oregon.
  • Experience : Clinical pharmacy experience (1-3 years) in a hospital setting preferred.
  • Job Knowledge : Knowledge of contemporary hospital/clinical practice and service.
  • Skills : Must be able to interact with other departments and supervisors.
