Position Summary The Medication Delivery Driver supports the mission of the Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) by ensuring patients have timely, safe, and confidential access to prescribed medications. This position is responsible for delivering medications from the Health Center's 340B pharmacy to patients, partner clinics, and community sites in a manner that upholds compliance with federal, state, and HRSA 340B program requirements. The role promotes patient access, medication adherence, and excellent customer service while protecting patient privacy and ensuring proper handling of all pharmaceuticals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
  • Proof of automobile insurance (if using personal vehicle).
  • Must pass a criminal background check and drug screen per FQHC policy.
  • Understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality.
  • Awareness of HRSA 340B program intent and compliance basics.
  • Attention to detail with ability to accurately handle medication deliveries.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with diverse populations.
  • Commitment to the mission of community health and equitable access to care.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Capable of lifting up to 40 lbs and tolerating variable driving conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in healthcare, pharmacy, or patient delivery service preferred.
  • Experience serving Medicaid or medically underserved populations strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver prescription medications, supplies, and other pharmacy-related items to patients, clinics, and community partner sites as assigned.
  • Verify patient identity and obtain appropriate signatures for medication deliveries while maintaining HIPAA confidentiality.
  • Follow all policies and procedures for the handling, storage, and transportation of medications, including refrigerated and controlled substances.
  • Ensure all deliveries comply with applicable state Board of Pharmacy regulations and HRSA 340B program requirements.
  • Accurately complete delivery documentation, logs, and return receipts in the electronic delivery tracking system.
  • Maintain communication with the pharmacy team regarding delivery schedules, patient contact issues, or delays.
  • Provide professional, courteous service to patients, including basic medication pickup coordination or return procedures.
  • Adhere to infection control and safety protocols when entering patient homes or facilities.
  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections and maintain cleanliness, fueling, and minor upkeep; report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
  • Assist pharmacy staff with medication staging, inventory transfer, and delivery preparation when needed.
  • Participate in compliance and safety training, including HIPAA, OSHA, and 340B awareness.
