About The Position

The Per-Diem Pharmacist will work on an as needed basis to assist with dispensing all patient medications in a safe and timely manner. Candidates must have working knowledge of drug doses, routes of administration, dosage forms, drug interactions, and pharmaceutical terms, abbreviations, and symbols.  Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Pharm D from an accredited school of pharmacy
  • Must be able to supervise pharmacy technicians with different levels of experience.
  • Must have organizational, interpersonal, and excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to exercise a high degree of initiative and independence of action while also working collaboratively with other team members of UNLV Medicine.
  • Must maintain up to date knowledge of pharmacy policies and procedures and be ready at all times to assist in pharmacy audits
  • Current Driver's License

Responsibilities

  • Serves patients by preparing medications and providing education to ensure the patient receives the correct medicine, dosages, and that they understand how to take their prescription.
  • Prepares medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders.
  • Maintains work flow, compliance with pharmacy board regulations, and oversight of pharmacy inventory.
  • Completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technicians’ workflow, verifying their preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals, and verifying order entries, charges, and inspections.
  • Complies with state and federal drug laws as regulated by the state board of pharmacy, the drug enforcement administration, and the food and drug administration.
  • Oversees the work of the pharmacy technicians.
  • Maintains current registration and knowledge of applicable current legislation.
  • Protects patients and technicians by adhering to infection-control protocols.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Collaborates with physicians, nurses, and case managers at Mojave counseling.
