About The Position

Friendship Hospital for Animals, a leading AAHA- accredited hospital located in Washington D.C. is seeking a detail-oriented Pharmacist to assist us in providing exemplary care to our clients and patients. About the role: The Pharmacist plays a key role in supporting the veterinary medical team by reviewing, verifying, and dispensing veterinary prescriptions in accordance with local and federal regulations. This person will work alongside other pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to not only maintain compliance but educate and guide our medical team and clientele. The incumbent will oversee controlled substance inventory, ensure proper species dosing, perform non-sterile compounding, and ideally have prior knowledge of veterinary pharmacotherapy. Schedule: This is a full-time position with a Monday through Friday schedule. Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an ACPE-accredited institution.
  • Active, unrestricted pharmacist license in the District of Columbia.
  • Strong understanding of USP <795>, <797>, and <800> standards.
  • Experience managing controlled substance compliance.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of veterinary pharmacotherapy and compounding practices.
  • Experience in a veterinary hospital or compounding pharmacy setting.
  • Advanced training or certification in veterinary pharmacy.
  • Experience in specialty, emergency, or academic veterinary environments.
