Summary Position Highlights: Responsible to assist with interviewing and hiring of new staff when requested. Ensures completion of orientation, initial training, re-training, and appropriate credentialing of all staff associated with assigned responsibilities. Provides annual performance assessment and merit review for assigned staff. Provides ongoing supervision, scheduling, work prioritization and assignment, and direction for work responsibilities. Provides analysis and participates in consultation and discipline when necessary, following Moffitt policy. Serve as a resource to the organization by providing expert advice regarding the operation of the assigned work team and recommend opportunities for improvement Coordinate with other team leaders, service leaders, process leaders to ensure consistency within the function by actively serving on or leading cross functional teams. Motivate and develop team members and continually assess strengths of the team to reassess direction and provide mentoring for team members. Provides oversight for safe use of medication, including investigational agents and nutritional therapies. This includes prescribing, dispensing, administering, and monitoring of relevant therapies. Ensures pharmacy staff competency so that pharmacists are providing appropriate drug therapy with consideration of the patient's diagnosis, age, weight, allergies, ADRs, organ function, and diet. Work collaboratively with other programs and services and provide oversight of all Moffitt staff providing pharmaceutical care to assure adherence to approved policies and standards. Provides support to improve pharmaceutical safety by working with staff in the Safety Office to reduce risk to patients within area of responsibility. Provides oversight of cost-effective use of medications and treatments. This includes risk reduction and correct utilization of resources to optimize care. Provides coordination and oversight of transition of treatments between inpatient, outpatient, and / or home care. Provides leadership of developing clinical guidelines, order forms, and critical pathways to improve the care and safety of patients. Provides leadership to maintain Joint Commission accreditation standards within the scope of responsibility. Provide leadership to maintain ASHP PGY-2 Oncology Pharmacy Residency accreditation standards Provide guidance and educational support to other pharmacy staff providing patient care that overlaps with your assigned area of responsibility. Represent your assigned and pharmacy concerns for Information Technology applications. Supervises and evaluates Pharmacists, technicians and/or Residents as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy required.
  • Licensed as a Pharmacist in the state of Florida required.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a clinical practice setting, including direct patient care.
  • Residency/fellowship training with specialization in an oncology, infectious disease, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated clinical and research expertise in oncology, infectious disease, or related field. Critical commitment to all aspects of pharmacy services for patient care. Willingness to assume both fiscal and clinical accountability for patient care decisions.
  • Proven basic research skills, including grant writing, conducting research, and publishing/presenting results.

Nice To Haves

  • Will have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
  • Has completed an Oncology Specialty Residency or has 5 years of experience in oncology.
