Job Summary: The PGY1 Pharmacy Resident is a graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited degree program or has a Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Committee (FPGEC) certificate from the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP), who is pursuing a one-year post-graduate experience in acute care clinical practice. Licensure is critical to completion of the PGY1 Pharmacy Residency requirements and therefore residents must be licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts at the start of residency, or eligible for licensure, and then licensed within 90 days of the commencement of the residency. The PGY1 Pharmacy Resident provides comprehensive medication management services through integrated drug distribution, clinical pharmacy services and teaching. The resident provides these services consistent with other services provided by pharmacists at BILH Pharmacy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or PharmD required.
  • License Pharmacist required., or eligible for licensure (reciprocity or examination) on initiation of the program and then licensed within 90 days from the start of the residency.
  • 0-1 years related work experience required.
  • Graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited degree program or have a Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Committee (FPGEC) certificate from the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP)
  • Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.

Responsibilities

  • The resident performs the duties of a clinical pharmacist in accordance with the Clinical Pharmacist job description (see Job Code A1915).
  • Perform duties defined within the BIDMC Residency Program Manual so as to meet the PGYI Residency Standards defined by the American Society of Health System Pharmacists.
  • These duties will support that the resident achieves competencies in the following areas: Patient Care; Advancing Practice and Improving Patient Care; Leadership and Management; Teaching, Education, and Dissemination of Knowledge.
