About The Position

PGY1 residency programs build upon Doctor of Pharmacy education and outcomes to develop pharmacist practitioners with knowledge, skills, and abilities as defined in the educational competency areas, goals, and objectives. Residents who successfully complete PGY1 residency programs will be skilled in diverse patient care, practice management, leadership, and education, and be prepared to provide patient care, seek board certification in pharmacotherapy (i.e., BCPS), and pursue advanced education and training opportunities including postgraduate year two (PGY2) residencies. In addition to patient care experiences commonly encountered in community-based pharmacy settings, the Revelation Pharma PGY1 Community-Based Pharmacy Residency offers additional training opportunities in sterile and nonsterile compounding, clinical research and formulation development, business administration, and pharmacy advocacy. The Revelation Pharma PGY1 Community-Based Pharmacy Residency prepares pharmacist practitioners to serve as highly qualified independent practitioners who are able to: demonstrate expertise in the field of sterile and nonsterile compounding; optimize patient outcomes through personalized medication management and utilization of novel formulations to meet individualized needs of patients; develop, create, implement, and adhere to sophisticated quality assurance programs; navigate the intricate regulatory landscape surrounding compounding and ensure adherence to guidelines set by the FDA, USP, and PCAB; identify and implement efficiencies to increase pharmacy productivity while controlling costs; and serve in managerial roles within community pharmacies.

Requirements

Graduate of a Doctor of Pharmacy program from an ACPE-accredited school or college of pharmacy
Legal working status in United States to cover the entire period of residency training (We are unable to sponsor visas for residents)
Eligibility for pharmacist licensure in the state of Georgia (Residents shall obtain Georgia Pharmacist Licensure prior to October 31st)
Negative drug testing results
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders
Excellent work ethic, including a personal drive to excel independently
Proficient in using a computer and related equipment, including printers and fax machines.
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
Effective communication skills via telephone and email.
Capable of lifting up to 40 pounds as needed.
20/20 vision (with or without corrective aids) required for visual inspection of drug products, in accordance with legal requirements.

Responsibilities

Completion of the ASHP PGY1 Community-Based Pharmacy Residency Competency Areas, Goals, and Objectives. See PharmAcademic.
Perform as a staff pharmacist member of the Innovation Compounding pharmacy team for 4 days per month.
A minimum of 26 (approximately 85%) objectives achieved for residency (ACHR)
No objectives with a final rating of Needs Improvement
Completion of all required learning experiences
Completion of a patient information leaflet, completion/revision of a clinician guide, and completion/revision of a treatment protocol
Develop presentation slides for one of the following: internal training program, clinical marketing podcast, or blog
Provide two journal club presentations
Completion of all Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Teaching and Learning Curriculum Program requirements needed to be awarded a certificate of completion.
Completion of all staffing requirements
Attend the following conferences: 1) Alliance for Pharmacy Compounding’s Compounders on Capitol Hill; 2) Alliance for Pharmacy Compounding’s Owner Summit; 3) ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting & Exhibition; and 4) Southeastern Residency Conference (2-day conference)
Presentation of year-long project at a regional residency conference or other conference approved by Residency Program Director
Final manuscript in a format suitable for publication and that has been approved by the project team
Complete survey evaluating the residency program
