Background: A community pharmacy residency is a twelve-month practice-based certificate program that provides the opportunity for accelerated professional growth beyond entry-level professional competence in patient-centered care, pharmacy operations, and leadership. This position exemplifies the mission of the Albertsons Pharmacies to attract, develop, and retain top talent. PGY1 Purpose: PGY1 residency programs build upon Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and outcomes to develop pharmacist practitioners with knowledge, skills, and abilities as defined in the educational competency areas, goals, and objectives. Residents who successfully complete PGY1 residency programs will be skilled in diverse patient care, practice management, leadership, and education, and be prepared to provide patient care, seek board certification in pharmacotherapy (i.e., BCPS), and pursue advanced education and training opportunities including postgraduate year two (PGY2) residencies. The pharmacy resident develops competency by working under the guidance of pharmacist preceptors to develop the following core competencies: Manage and improve the medication-use process Provide evidence-based, patient-centered care and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care Exercise leadership and practice management skills Demonstrate project management skills Provide medication and practice-related information, education, and/or training Emerge as a leader in patient care through creation and implementation of new programs and services A copy of the full job description can be made available to you.
