About The Position

Join the Discovery family, where quality and service are at the heart of everything we do! This role will be at Discovery Land Company’s location: The Hills in East Quogue, NY. The Hills seeks a full-time seasonal PGA Intern to join the Golf Operations Department. This is a seasonal position from April 25 – November 10, 2026. The PGA Internship is a structured educational program designed for aspiring PGA Professionals. The PGA intern will participate in a 13-week supervised work experience responsible for ensuring exceptional service to our guests and maintaining the smooth operation of the golf facilities. The PGA Intern will interact with golfers of all skill levels and provide assistance with various aspects of their experience, from equipment handling to preparing for their round of golf. In this role, you will be part of creating the Discovery Land Company experience for our members and fellow employees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Sports Management, Recreation).
  • Enrolled in or recently graduated from an accredited PGA Golf Management university program.
  • Holds a Class A Certification through PGA/LPGA, or working towards Class A membership in good standing with PGA.
  • Knowledge of Golf Genius Tournament Software and Jonas or TEI POS systems
  • Previous experience in a customer service role, preferably in a hospitality or golf-related environment.
  • Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.
  • Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Long hours may be required due to business demands.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
  • Complete a background check at employer’s cost.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of golf etiquette, rules, and terminology is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Greet members upon arrival and departure on the range.
  • Assist with service during their round and promptly respond to any player requests.
  • Work in conjunction with the valet team and assist as needed.
  • Communicate with departments regarding members transitioning through the property.
  • Stock and restock golf carts with beverages, towels, and any other amenities as needed throughout the day.
  • Ensure an adequate number of carts are staged and ready for use at all times.
  • Maintain clean shuttles, club carts, and personal golf carts throughout the day.
  • Clean all players' clubs (to include members, guests, and prospects) before and after each round.
  • Always count clubs before putting them in storage or sending them back to the valet area.
  • Complete daily set-up/breakdown of all range equipment, amenities, and activities.
  • Closing duties include but are not limited to removing range furniture, washing golf balls, restocking buckets, cleaning carts (before parking in the cart barn), plug all carts into a charging station.
  • Assist in the Golf Shop as a retail associate as requested.
  • Support tournament planning, administration and rules officiating.
  • Accurate tracking of all daily golf activity.
  • Assist with monthly inventory count.
  • Opportunity to provide caddie services if qualified and requested by the Director of Golf.
  • Attend department meetings and trainings as necessary.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
