Working closely with our Engineering, Land, and Business Development teams, the Geologist will identify and assess subsurface opportunities, support A&D activities, and provide technical insights that inform strategic investment decisions. The ideal candidate has 6-10 years of upstream experience, with a blend of exploration or evaluation work and operational data analysis, along with strong Mid-Continent knowledge and collaboration skills.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Geology, Geophysics, Earth Sciences, or related field or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 6-10 years of experience in upstream oil & gas, with meaningful exposure to both exploration/evaluation and operational data analysis

  • Direct experience in the Mid-Continent is required (additional experience in other basins is preferred)
  • Strong background in regional and basin-wide evaluations
  • Experience in making investment or developmental recommendations based on subsurface interpretations
  • Proficiency with well log correlation and subsurface mapping tools; proficiency in SMT Kingdom is highly preferred.
  • Comfortable integrating geological data with engineering, land, and production information
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills, with a strong ability to communicate technical findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates a growth mindset with the willingness to adapt and make informed decisions in uncertain or evolving environments
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks and shifting priorities independently.
  • Must reside within commuting distance to Tulsa, OK or be willing to relocate

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of data visualization tools or database management systems (e.g., Spotfire, ArcGIS, Power BI) is preferred.
  • Comfort with using generative AI tools to streamline routine tasks and support critical thinking

  • Identify and prioritize investment opportunities across the basin
  • Evaluate prospects by integrating subsurface mapping, petrophysical analysis, and production trends
  • Develop and present clear technical geological assessments and recommendations on investment opportunities, including risk, upside potential, and reserve estimation support in collaboration with the Engineering
  • Evaluate operator development strategies, drilling results, and completion practices to understand how operator execution affects investment outcomes
  • Evaluate emerging plays by staying ahead of industry trends and competitor activity
  • Interpret public and proprietary well data to assess reservoir performance, formation variability, and operator best practices
  • Monitor the performance of the company’s non-operated portfolio, helping to identify trends in operator behavior, development strategy, and well performance that influence future investment decisions
  • Integrate geological data with petrophysical, engineering, and land insights on new well data, completions, and emerging trends
  • Collaborate with the Geology team to translate geological insights into clear investment recommendations
  • Engage with operator partners to request data, validate geological assumptions, and provide technical input
