The University of Iowa Health Care department of Radiology is seeking a PET Lead Technologist. This position will assist the Clinical Chief and the members of the Radiology department in provision of efficient and safe patient care. Provide supervision for daily operations within PET Center. Duties Include: · Provide Specialty Patient Care: o Perform complex PET examinations. Demonstrate and display a thorough knowledge of PET tracers and their relation to molecular physiological functions. o Evaluate equipment performance, recognize image artifacts, and initiate corrective action, when needed. o Develop PET examinations, create written protocols and scanning parameters. o Develop, implement and evaluate technology required for new procedures. o Troubleshoot computer or equipment malfunctions. o Interact professionally with patient/family. Provide liaison between medical staff and patients, patients’ families, and hospital staff. o Perform duties of Senior Nuclear Medicine Technologist (PET). o Monitor equipment and coordinate repairs o Play an active role in monthly technologist meeting. o Models service excellence key behaviors and assure staff participation in departmental/hospital initiatives. o Assist in daily clinic operations in conjunction with other lead technologists. o Coordinate with outside vendors regarding image transfer and ordering of radiopharmaceuticals · Collaborate/Communicate with Health Care Team o Communicates in a positive manner with physicians, staff and other units or departments on a regular basis to promote effective and efficient operations within the department. Promotes a positive work environment. o Engages staff to meet departmental or institutional goals. Communicates with staff in a positive manner to support initiatives and encourage staff participation. Create and update standard clinical imaging guidelines; disseminate protocol changes to staff. o Understand and follow appropriate use of email when addressing issues or concerns of the department. o Communicate in a positive manner with patients, families and staff to address and resolve issues. · Safe Delivery of Care and Compliance o Ensures standard of care, regulatory compliance and safety regulations are followed. o Identifies opportunities for improvement in quality and patient experience and recommends solutions. o Create and revise department forms. · HR Management o Assists with hiring, orientation and onboarding of new staff within the clinical area. o Assists Clinical Chief with recruitment and hiring of staff as needed. o Provides guidance and coaching to staff and students to assure outcomes are achieved. o Provide documentation regarding staff performance to supervisor and/or manager. o Create weekly technologist schedules and coordinate with lead technologist to schedule studies The information contained herein is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities required of individuals performing this job.
