About The Position

Incumbent serves as the subject matter expert (SME) for the pest management work of the Infrastructure Systems Shop, responsible for the accountability of assigned employees, tools, equipment, and other resources in the accomplishment of contract requirements. Serves as the SME in performance of Integrated Pest Management and Entomology services to all facilities and grounds. Primary/Major Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions): Assists in the creation and implementation of work schedules, material requirements and personnel resources to ensure contract requirements are properly met Ensures employee compliance with safety, security, property, and material management, as well as time and attendance Inspects work in progress and completed work to ensure accomplishment in most effective and efficient manner Accomplishes work in accordance with authorized Work Orders and contract requirements for response and performance Completes Work Order feedback in accordance with established procedures Use integrated pest management techniques utilizing nonchemical control techniques to the maximum extent possible Provide animal carcass removal in and around buildings, alongside of the roads, and perform odor control as part of pest control Provide effective pest control services to eliminate or suppress pest populations to within minimum threshold limits at Fort Eustis, Virginia Prepare, submit, and maintain all records and reports as specified in the Deliverables (DLRSs) in Technical Exhibit 1-004 Perform pest control work in accordance with the JBLE-E Integrated Pest Management Plan (IPMP). Obtain and maintain a Virginia Pesticide Business License Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and base and contract requirements Apply pesticides in such a manner as to prevent toxic exposure of personnel, wildlife, ornamental plants (including on the Installation and on adjacent land), and any other non-target components of the environment Conduct monthly surveys for cockroaches and household pests Technician shall monitor food facilities for rodent activity as a preventive program Assists in the procurement of parts and materials for job completion Assists in the training and development of staff in related fields

Requirements

  • Must be able to organize staff and materials, disseminate information, and track project progression
  • Must have knowledge of the chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo.
  • Must be knowledgeable in the uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods.
  • Must be fluent in English
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Must have the ability to deal with problems involving several variables in adverse situations
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record
  • Virginia Pesticide Business License
  • Must have minimum five years pest control experience with application in commercial and food preparation facilities
