About The Position

The University of Nevada, Reno Human Resources Department is recruiting a Personnel Analyst 1 for the Classification and Compensation team. This position is responsible for conducting comprehensive job analyses and evaluations for classified and faculty positions in accordance with defined parameter. Duties include reviewing and assessing duty updates, short-form positions, trades, and title changes, and utilizing a variety of methodologies such as desk audits, in-depth interviews, position comparisons, and job evaluation models to gather and analyze relevant information. The Personnel Analyst 1 authors decision determinations for assigned classifications, ensuring consistency and adherence to standard protocol. Additional responsibilities include developing essential job functions, train with supervisors or senior analysts on complex classification actions and continuously monitoring and assessing and make equitable classification. The role also assists with appeals by researching and summarizing pertinent information, processes classification closeout functions, and provides consultation to campus constituents regarding policies, rules, and regulations related to classified and faculty positions. Participation in committees, cross-training, and other professional development activities is expected to maintain a strong understanding of departmental operations and best practices.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in public administration or a related field; OR
  • Three (3) years experience as a Personnel Technician III in Nevada State service; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
