About The Position

We are looking for an Underwriting Intern to join our underwriting team at Western Reserve Group during the summer of 2026. The ideal candidate would be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in business administration, finance, risk management, or equivalent. The goal of this internship is to provide a unique learning opportunity for a soon to be college graduate and provide valuable support to our underwriting team. The internship will provide practical experience within an insurance company with a focus on underwriting, but with exposure to Product Management, Claims, IT, and Marketing. Salary Grade (5) 17.41 - 21.76 - 26.11

Requirements

• The ideal candidate will have a desire to learn and growth within the insurance industry.
• Involvement within on-campus activities and display of leadership qualities will be important.
• High School Degree
• Enrolled in an accredited college / university
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook)
• Excellent written and verbal skills
• Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision
• Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas
• Must be 18 years of age
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. The individual must be able to effectively and clearly communicate with agents, department and company personnel via telephone, fax, email, and one-on-one dialog, in a highly professional manner.

• The environment is reasonably quiet with needed interaction between other unit employees, immediate supervisor, and other Company staff. Moderate noise from telephoned calls is expected.

Responsibilities

• Assist underwriting team members with wide range of underwriting tasks
• Job shadow with various underwriting team members and others throughout the organization
• Work directly with AVP on key projects identified within the department
