This position provides personal financial services to military service members and their families at assigned military installations. The role encompasses a full range of personal financial counseling services, including one-on-one counseling, consultations with commanders or other staff, conducting briefings and presentations, and providing referral resources. The counselor will work closely with installation and military branch Points of Contact (POC) to ensure the program meets the installation's needs. Key responsibilities include assisting service members with spending plans for extended absences, developing and distributing financial informational materials, and coordinating and providing Personal Financial Management classes/workshops on topics across the military lifecycle (e.g., first duty station, pre- and post-deployment, personal and career events). The counselor must be able to effectively utilize virtual counseling and other electronic communication modes, such as web-based, secure online chat, or video-based communications and secure video teleconference, with virtual support authorized by the OSD FINRED Program office. The role also involves managing duty to warn situations according to Department of Defense (DoD) protocol, communicating with leadership, participating in regular individual and group supervision to share trends and issues, and engaging in in-services/training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities.
